A tranquil week in Carunchio

Day 1

After the day of travel to get to the rural village, spend your first day simply walking around the village. There are many different routes that you can take to reach the summit and many routes down. The village has a Church on the summit, well worth a visit both externally and internally. There is also a peace full cemetery at the end of Via Foresta down from the house.

Try to seek out local vegetable produce from the small local shops. The bakery  is ideal for collecting the days bread from 8.30 am. Simply buy a selection of local tomatoes, cured hams, eaten with the bread, oils and a nice red wine, your day sets a slow pace, winding you down for a week of tranquillity and rustic living.

Day 2

You might like to take a drive down to the major Shopping Mall which is “Centro de Commerciale” where there is a large supermarket, clothes, shoe and many more shops. Stock up on whatever you need then take a drive down to the coast to check out both San Salvo Marina, Vasto Marina, before then driving up into Vasto to check out the city of Vasto.

Maybe its time for a nice nature stroll. Check out our directions for a nice local walk. Add new walks into out book if you find any interesting routes. Back at the house, take a nice coffee and a light lunch before popping over to the Parco Naturale which is left off the road on the way to Torrebruna – Sign Posted “Valle de Sogni”

Maybe walk the area around the Parc, through the forests by following the lanes near to the gates into the forest. Take you time and even hang around ready to eat there in the evening.

Day 4

Why not think about a few hours out on the Quad bikes or even try out Horse Riding. Sergio, the Chef and manager of Valle de Sogni and his staff are always happy to help. If you pre-book you may even get a better rate for the bikes.

Day 5

Visit the surrounding villages : Palmoli, Torrebruna, Schiavi di Abbruzzo – Check out the map find your way to another village, park in any square and just take a gentle walk around. You may be looked at, don’t worry the Italians are friendly people who may just be curious. It’s a novelty for a new face to be seen, and trust me they excel themselves when it comes to humor!!

Day 6

Check out the Lakes of Abbruzzo – Knows as “Lago”, it may be a drive but well worth a day out, if you travel back towards the Adriatic coast, Vasto Nord, you may like to try out the new Agri Turistico as pictures on the site

If you are travelling to Rome to fly maybe take an extra day, stop off to see the War Graves at Cassino before you join the A1 to travel north.
