**Important Message for People Thinking of Buying a Property in Abruzzo Region

The proprietor of Rural Holidays is a qualified lawyer who now gives free advice to anyone thinking of buying property in the region.

If you are considering buying a property in the region we strongly advise that you ensure you take full legal advice and that you obtain full and comprehensive terms of business with any agent who offers you any property service. If you have been given terms, we will check these for you free of charge if you email them to us.

Properties are available to buy from £6000.00 upwards, it is therefore tempting to look at buying however the process itself without the correct support can result in financial losses and considerable delays. You will avoid some of the major problems that Rural Holidays have experienced if you ensure you obtain terms that include specific performance and effective termination clauses. If you reside in the UK and your service provider is based in Italy, they may be cavalier in an assumption of legal immunity which means legal costs will be significant if you fall foul of a provider.

You should insist on a contract drawn under UK domestic law this way any property finder service cannot avoid their contract with you and attempt legal immunity through failure to respond to matters of dispute. You should also think seriously about ensuring that your contract has a cultural advisory clause which means that they be responsible for advices on all cultural apsects.

We can recommend an English speaking property agent should you need assistance.

*The above advices does not seek to refer to any named property finders service, this advice is general and generic to any firm that may approach you to assist in any purchase.

Finally.... Giovina

Giovina, which is pronounced "Gioveena" is the delightful neighbor who sold her second family home to me. Giovina raised her daughters in both these houses with her husband who sadly passed away a few years ago.

Giovina does not speak a word of English and when speaking Italian, she tends to use Carunchian dialect therefore, if you do get into a chat with Giovina, you  should say "Parle Italiano, lentemente, Par Favour" (please speak Italian slowly).

If you struggle, just keep in mind that Giovina is a very gentle lady who thrives on the company of her guests next door. (Its her old house coming alive afterall) The beauty of Giovina is that she never seems to overstay her welcome. She has been known to bring round coffee and home-grown produce. Any effort you make to communicate with her will adhere her to you, Giovina is a lovely caring lady who will work with you to try to communicate.

Giovina is a lady , here she is with myself and Heidi in 2006 during our week renovating the house.
